Delta Air Lines Removes Trump Supporter Over Controversial T-Shirt
A Donald Trump supporter reported that he was removed from a Delta Air Lines flight for wearing a t-shirt featuring the former president making obscene hand gestures alongside slogans related to the viral “Hawk Tuah” girl, as covered by the New York Post.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning at Florida’s Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, just before the flight was set to depart. The flight crew received complaints from another passenger regarding the provocative imagery on the man’s shirt and requested that he change it. In response, the man briefly turned the shirt inside out.
However, just before takeoff, a Delta employee boarded the plane and escorted him off after he flipped the shirt back to its original display, as noted by a Reddit user who shared a video of the event.
The shirt depicted Donald Trump wearing glasses in the colors of the U.S. flag, with text referencing a viral video where a girl discusses oral sex.
The Reddit video of the altercation has since garnered over 900 upvotes and numerous comments. In the footage, the man is heard claiming, “I am getting kicked off because of my shirt,” while being escorted away and also using abusive language towards a flight attendant.
While some Reddit users felt the airline’s response was excessive, Delta Air Lines was within its rights to remove the passenger. According to the airline’s policies, passengers can be asked to leave if their “conduct, hygiene, attire, or odor creates an unreasonable risk of offense or annoyance to other passengers,” as reported by the New York Post.
